The project also promotes the Foundation’s Into the Greenbelt program, supporting daytrips among Newcomer organizations to learn about and experience local agriculture and nature.

Pollinator friendly art / canoe planters are installed in parks and public spaces in the upper reaches of the Rouge River and Don River (Mount Joy Creek) watersheds to facilitate the use, enjoyment and stewardship of local ravine areas. Over 2,000 neighbourhood residents will participate in plantings, learn about the importance of pollinators, urban river valleys and the Greenbelt. Volunteers will maintain the pollinator gardens and encourage the creation of additional gardens in the area (i.e. with corporate partners, homeowners and other landowners).
