Program Manager

The Greenbelt Fund Program Manager will work with the Program Director onthe overall implementation of the Greenbelt Fund, a promotional program focused on significantly increasing the procurement of local, Ontario-grown food. Responsibilities will include program management, performance monitoring, websitedevelopment, industry relations, success sharing, report writing, etc. with the goal of improving the procurement of local foods in Ontario.

Main responsibilities:
• Identify trends, opportunities andchallenges for local food procurement by key audiences in Ontario

• Assist the ProgramDirector in the operating and decision making forthe programunder the Greenbelt Fund

• Respond to public enquiries about the Greenbelt Fund and application process

• Manage alladministration and record keepingfor the GreenbeltFundand files

• Work with performance monitoring consultant and procurement stakeholders establishing baseline information on local food purchasing and managing performance measurement

• Monitor and document the performance of partneractivitiesin increasing local food procurement 

• Be visibly active in helping food purchasers, distributors, operators and producers meet the objectives of the program 

• Work with the Ontariofresh.ca Project Manager in the development of an Ontario wide online marketplace for businesses and consumers to source local, Ontario grown food

• Work with the Greenbelt Fund Communications Manager to generate and disseminate local food procurement success stories that can be shared through trade and mainstream media, industry events, marketing materials, awards etc.

• Work with education stakeholders to createlocal food procurement educational programs

• Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports as well as all reports required

• Conduct all other duties as directed by the President or Program Director


Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years food industry experience

• Marketing/sales background

• Program managementexperience desirable

• Highly organized with project management experience

• Excellentwritten and oral communication skills

• Experience in working as part of a project team


Salary: Commensurate with experience. This position ends on March 31, 2012.

Media Relations and Communications Manager
Greenbelt Fund


The Media Relations and Communications Manager will work with the Program Director on the overall marketing of the Greenbelt Fund and manage all the media and communication activities for the Greenbelt Fund, a promotional program focused on significantly increasing the procurement of local, Ontario-grown food. Develop and execute a Local Food Heros awards program that will celebrate and motivate local food procurement.

Main Responsibilities:
• Announce all new Greenbelt Fund grants to the trade and mainstream media

• Develop a Greenbelt Fund communications plan from strategic priorities to tactics to measurement

• Develop a media plan that communicates Greenbelt Fund messages, expectations and outcomes; and include an evaluation plan for measuring outcomes

• Manage the design, development and dissemination of marketing materials

• Oversee all media opportunities to communicate key grant activities, events and accomplishments

• Work with grantees to collaborate on/approve communication strategies and materials and ensure these support the goals of the Greenbelt Fund

• Oversee the release of the annual Greenbelt Fund Support Card including design, writing and printing

• Work with the communication staff to ensure successful publication of reports

• Develop relationships with relevant reporters, editors, producers and columnists etc. in print, television, radio and online media, both mainstream and trade

• Maintain media lists and oversee media tracking and reports on media presence

• Manage social media efforts for the Greenbelt Fund

• Develop and execute a program that will acknowledge success stories and individuals who have increased local food procurement 

• Conduct all other duties as assigned by the President and theProgram Director

Qualifications:
• Strategic planning, marketing and communications background 

• Media relations experience including the writing and pitching of press releases

• Writing and communication skills including marketing materials and publications

• Public communication skills

• Organizational and event management skills

• Experience in working as part of a project team

• Knowledge of agriculture and/or food procurement issues is helpful

• 8+ years experience

Project Manager

Manage the development of an Ontario-wide online marketplace for consumers and businesses to source local, Ontario-grown food. The marketplace will be an expansion and evolution of the Greenbeltfresh.ca website. This website will be a key tool in the successful implementation of the GreenbeltFund, a promotional program focused on significantly increasing the procurement of local, Ontario-grown food.

Main Responsibilities:
• Assess strengths, weaknesses and challenges of Greenbeltfresh.ca and similar websites operating in other jurisdictions. Compile baseline information and set benchmarks for what a  successful Ontario website would look like and achieve

• Work with a web design company to develop and execute a consultation process that will adequately inform the development of Ontariofresh.ca

• Conduct a series of consultations with potential users of the website such as businesses, farmers, farmers’ market managers, consumers and others

• Determine the feasibility of including and ecommerce applications within Ontariofresh.ca

• Oversee a web design team todevelop and test site with users

• Develop and coordinate an outreach strategy to ensure a high volume of farmers and farmers’ markets establish business profiles on Ontariofresh.ca

• Engage and build working relationships with all stakeholders in the local food system including but not limited to advocates; food processors, food distributors, farm groups; and, key food procurement businesses in Ontario, to provide ongoing support to the development of Ontariofresh.ca and an enable an evaluation of its success

• Collaborate with communication staff to develop and execute a marketing and promotion strategy for Ontariofresh.ca

• Oversee activities to evaluate the success of Ontariofresh.ca

• Monitor and oversee the maintenance and updating of Ontariofresh.ca and all communication with users, farmers and other stakeholders

• Manage a Program Assistant for the project/program

• Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports

• Conduct all other duties as directed by the President and Program Director


Qualifications:
• Significant project management experience

• Knowledge of website design and functionality

• Highly organized individual that can deliver on deadlines

• Excellent problem solving skills

• Experience in managing expectations and evaluating outcomes

• Knowledge of the local food system and/or food procurement issues is desired

• Experience in working as part of a project team

• 5+ years experience

Project Assistant

Work with the Ontariofresh.ca Program Manager to support the development of an Ontario-wide online marketplace for consumers and businesses to source local food. Main Responsibilities:


• Support the work of the Project Manager in developing and executing Ontariofresh.ca

• Organize all consultations/meetings (travel, room bookings, etc) with local food advocates, farm groups, food procurement businesses and others to provide input into the development of Ontariofresh.ca

• Organize regular meetings with the web design companyand other suppliers/partners

• Take notes during meetings and transcribe them for the project team and/or project stakeholders

• Maintain the project calendar

• Assist with developing the website, with new creative ideas and regular maintenance and updates

• Assist with activities to evaluate the success of Ontariofresh.ca

• Assist communications staff with to develop and execute a marketing and promotion strategy for Ontariofresh.ca as well as other initiatives/projects as required

• Assist program management staff with other initiatives/projects as required

• Receive and greet the clients by telephone and in person, determining their needs

• Provide general clerical assistance (typing, photocopying, etc.) as required

• Conduct all other duties as directed by the President or the Program Director


Qualifications:

• Assistant or executive assistant experience

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Outreach experience and good public communication skills

• Knowledge of local agriculture and/or food procurement issues is desired

• Communication experience is an asset 

• Experience in working as part of a project team

• 2+ years experience
