Jane's Walk York
Discovering Vaughan's Hidden Green Gem: The MacMillan Nature Reserve and MacMillan Farm

Hosted by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, this walk will take participants on the "first official public tour of the [MacMillian] nature reserve.

Expert from the walk description on Janeswalk.org
"The late Lyn and Robert MacMillan purchased this farm and wooded property along Dufferin Street and eventually protected and maintained its rural character in the midst of a vast urban expansion. First they donated a 47 hectare nature reserve to the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in 2004. Then the family sold the MacMillan Farm, in the middle of the property, to the City of Vaughan.... In honour of the 10th Anniversary of the Jane's Walks, NCC is hosting this first official public tour of the nature reserve, and the City of Vaughan are giving access to the farm for our viewing and inspiration. Like Jane Jacobs, Lyn MacMillan (whose full name is Eluned Jane MacMillan) was also a community activists. Walkers will learn more about her conservation legacy and her successful advocacy for for the protection of the Niagara Escarpment and other significant lands."
