We are defending and enhancing the Greenbelt as a model for the world—a permanent safeguard for the next generation, so our children and grandchildren can share in the local food and environmental benefits the Greenbelt provides us every day.

Ontario’s Greenbelt is a permanently protected landscape of prime farmland, irreplaceable natural heritage features and vital water resources. The Greenbelt is a signature environmental legacy for future generations, and it is our sacred responsibility to protect this landscape and all that it provides. Development pressure threatens to weaken the Greenbelt’s protections and pave over farms, forests and wetlands, putting at risk Ontario’s food supply and environmental riches.

The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation is a registered charity, supported by public and private funds, committed to making the Greenbelt a great place to live, work, play and grow. Established in 2005, we have invested and leveraged more than $47 million in environmental protection, farming and tourism projects in the Greenbelt. We spend less than 7% of our expenditures on operations.

With your support, the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation can continue the fight to strengthen the Greenbelt and a vision for the future of the region that is green, sustainable, and secure. Your gift can ensure that Ontario stands by its commitment to future generations to preserve a thriving farming economy, vibrant rural communities, and sustainable growth.
