TVOKids Greenbelt Adventure Day at Whittamore's Farm June 21, 2009

Spend the day with the TVOKids hosts: featuring fun activities for the whole family – and free admission for dads!

Toronto, June 11, 2009 — TVOKids has a fun way for kids to spend quality time with their dads and with the whole family this Father’s Day. It’s TVOKids Greenbelt Adventure Day, coming to Whittamore’s Farm Strawberry Festival Weekend, on Sunday June 21. Whittamore’s Farm is at 8100 Steeles Avenue East, in Markham, Ontario. The farm is open from 9 to 4 pm, and dads get free admission all day!

Spend the day with TVOKids, meet your favourite TVOKids hosts, take part in entertaining activities and receive host autographs. For the first 400 kids there will be a free TVOKids Greenbelt Adventure 100% recyclable gift bag-tote, filled with exciting Greenbelt Adventure giveaways. TVO encourages the whole family to attend: TVOKids will be taping at the farm all day and you might get to see yourself on TV in TVOKids’ after-school programming block The Space or online at tvokids.com.

Following is the schedule of TVOKids activities for the day:

  • 11:30 am: Cooking 101 – Join TVOKids hosts Mark and Ryan to learn the art of cooking with strawberries. As well as learning how to make strawberry jam, they’ll be making some delicious strawberry smoothies.
  • 12:30 pm: TVOKids official welcome to Whittamore’s Farm – TVOKids hosts Ryan and Mark will talk about strawberry picking, tell you more about the Ontario Greenbelt, sing the Greenbelt song, “Come on, Let’s Go,” and share the excitement of the day.2:00 pm: Strawberry pie-eating contest – join in the tasty competition, emceed by the TVOKids hosts.
  • 3:00 pm: Autographs – TVOKids hosts Mark and Ryan will be signing autographs until 4:00 pm. And they have free gift bags for the first 400 kids!

TVO is hosting the TVOKids Greenbelt Adventure Day at Whittamore’s Farm, located in Ontario’s Greenbelt, as part of TVOKids Greenbelt Adventure, a joint project with the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation. The largest in the world, Ontario’s Greenbelt is home to some of the most valuable farmland and protected green space in Canada. The aim of the Greenbelt Adventure Project is to increase children’s and families’ awareness of our Greenbelt, inspire them to explore its treasures and engage in continuous efforts to help protect it.
