As we mentioned yesterday on the blog we’re happy to have Jen Fawcette join our team as a guest blogger. Jen is crazy about cycling and a really great gal so we thought she was the perfect person to help us get even more excited than we already are about the upcoming Tour de Greenbelt. Jen is also known as Rocket Girl online and keeps a blog of her cycling adventures at www.rocketgirlblog.com – check it out!
We asked Jen a few questions to help us introduce her:
Tell us about yourself – what do you do and what do you like to do in your spare time?
Jennifer Fawcette (JF) - My personal passion and worklife are intertwined!! I’m an assisant manager at CYKL Indoor Cycling Studio and an indoor cycling coach! Then my spare time is spent running a women’s cycling group called CYKLfemmes and riding with my boyfriend (who got me hooked on road cycling!) whenever we can!
You’re a cycling fanatic – what kind of bike do you ride?
JF – I have two! A women’s Trek commuter for going to-and-from work and then I have my road bike which is a BMC Pro Machine... She’s the love of my life (next to my boyfriend).
What are some of your favourite cycling routes through the city and beyond?
JF – I love to ride around High Park, it doesn’t feel like you’re in Toronto and there are some nice hills you can climb over and over and over again! Outside the city I love to ride in Caledon (Oak Ridges Moraine area), around Bowmanville (holy hills!), and around Dundas/Famborough/Milton area. The country is where it;s at for cycling! It’s beautiful, quiet, and can be very challenging!
Which part of the Tour de Greenbelt are you most looking forward to riding?
JF – I’m looking forward to riding in the Niagara Region! I’ve always wanted to ride around the vineyards and check out some of the great wineries! It looks like so much fun at a nice, relaxed pace!
Thanks Jen – we look forward to reading your posts about the Tour de Greenbelt. And for more information on the Tour or to register online, check out www.tourdegreenbelt.ca.
