Qualifications The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic self-starter with a significant background in organizing and working on environmental campaigns. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: - commitment to Environmental Defence’s vision and mission - three to five years experience in ENGOs, planning, and/or community organizing - familiarity with the issues concerning the Greenbelt - college or university degree in a related field - excellent writing, presentation and creative skills - a drive for success - ability to work in a team environment - a valid driver’s license This is a full-time permanent salaried position. Career Opportunity for Ontario Greenbelt Coordinator
Coordinator, Ontario Greenbelt Alliance Environmental Defence protects the environment and human health. We research solutions. We educate. We got to court when we have to. All in order to ensure clean air, clean water and thriving ecosystems nationwide, and to bring a halt to Canada’s contribution to climate change. We seek a highly committed, experienced and energetic community organizer to take on the responsibility of coordinating and expanding the activities of the Ontario Greenbelt Alliance, a project under the Environmental Defence Greening Cities Programme. The Ontario Greenbelt Alliance comprises over 80 organizations that support the protection of the Ontario Greenbelt . Responsibilities of the Coordinator include administering all aspects of the Alliance and coordinating member meetings; working with member groups to coordinate community-based events; developing creative communications strategies; facilitating action to promote the benefits of the Greenbelt; coordinating responses to threats to the Greenbelt. This position will require frequent travel in the Greenbelt area, but the successful candidate does not need to own their own car. The Ontario Greenbelt Alliance Coordinator will work closely with the Outreach Director.
