Greenbelt Wins Living City Award

Greenbelt Foundation wins Living City Award for leadership in Sustainable Communities!

We were incredibly honoured to receive the the Living City Award from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in the Sustainable Communities category. The TRCA selected the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation for the award based on our 12-year history of protecting and enhancing the Greenbelt with projects like the Conservation Authorities Moraine Coalition Restoration and Enhancement Plan and supporting local agriculture.

Our outgoing CEO, Burkhard Mausberg, accepted the award on November 2 at an awards dinner hosted by the Living City Foundation. The TRCA recognized not only the Foundation's leadership is protecting watershed healthy and promoting sustainable growth, but thanked Burkhard for his leadership at the organization as he prepared to move on to new challenges.

There are many exciting projects on the horizon for the Foundation as we continue to invest in restoration and enhancement of the natural systems of the Greenbelt. Our new CEO, Edward McDonnell, is excited to build on our success and invest in projects that will enhance the health of vital water systems in the Greenbelt.
