New Position with the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation


Project Assistant Position

The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation has a 6-month internship available on the communications team on Sign Projects. We invite applications from qualified candidates by Friday, May 25, 2012.

Scope of Work

The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Manager, the CEO and other Foundation team members. Responsibilities include:

  • Expanding the signage program across Ontario’s Greenbelt – this includes both educational and           promotional signage in communities, regional roads, and major highways
  • Engage with municipalities, government departments and other stakeholders to secure partnership for signing initiatives
  • Organize meetings with stakeholders and other suppliers/partners, travel (if required)
  • Assist the Communications Manager in developing printed and online communications tools to         promote signing initiatives
  • Work with designers and the Communications Manager to develop sign and banner designs
  • Document all proposed sign locations and completed installations
  • Coordinate promotional events and media releases
  • Take notes during meetings and transcribe them for the project team and/or project stakeholders
  • Provide general clerical assistance (typing, photocopying, etc) as required
  • Conduct all other duties as directed by the CEO or the Communications Manager


The successful candidate will be a recent university graduate with:

  • 2+ years experience
  • Geography and/or GIS mapping skills is an asset
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Outreach experience and good public communication skills
  • Website/social media/online/digital experience
  • Experience in working as part of a project team
  • Marketing and communication experience is an asset
  • A valid drivers’ license is required

Additional Details

This position is a six month internship position ending on December 21, 2012. Salary is $2,000

per month.
