Last Friday evening was Hockey Night in the Greenbelt. We hosted a hockey game between the Niagara IceDogs and the Brampton Battalion. A great game, by the way, that ended in a shoot out where the IceDogs edged out the home team 5-4.
We had a couple of Greenbelt tables in the concourse of the arena and our staff and volunteers were on hand to give out materials to around 2,000 attendees as they arrived and during the intermissions. Kids on hand got to take home our popular Greenbelt Kids Activity Books and participate in our special game day trivia scavenger hunt. Four lucky kids were chosen to take part in our harvest on-ice intermission game where the participants had to stick handle gourds through a pylon route. Adults got to pick up information about Greenbelt hiking and where they can find fresh locally grown food (www.greenbeltfresh.ca). Youth were interested in hearing about our Video competition, which is currently open for entries (www.reelgreenbelt.ca).
We’re always excited about new ways to reach out to Greenbelt communities. On January 6th we’ll be hosting the second installment of Hockey Night in the Greenbelt when the Oshawa Generals take on the Guelph Storm.
