HAMILTON, ON. September Seventh Entertainment Limited is proud to present Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Emmylou Harris, Daniel Lanois, Whitehorse, Trixie Whitley, Rocco DeLuca and more live at the 2013 Greenbelt Harvest Picnic on Saturday August 31st at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario. Gates open at 11AM and show starts at 12PM. The event serves to celebrate the importance of the Greenbelt, local farmers, art, the outdoors and the eat-local movement.
Neil Young with Crazy Horse will be giving a full performance at the Picnic and are performing as part of the Alchemy Tour which began in 2012. The Harvest Picnic is the only scheduled date for Neil Young with Crazy Horse in southern Ontario this year. Young released two albums in 2012 with Crazy Horse – Americana and Psychedelic Pill.
Neil Young recorded with Crazy Horse for the first time in 1969 for the album Everybody Knows This Is Nowherewhich includes the hit "Cinnamon Girl" and the extended guitar workouts "Down by the River" and "Cowgirl in the Sand.”
Young is an outspoken advocate for environmental issues and the welfare of small farmers having co-founded the benefit concert, Farm Aid, in 1985. Young is also a co-founder of The Bridge School, an educational organization for children with severe verbal and physical disabilities, and its annual supporting Bridge School Benefit concerts.
Greenbelt Harvest Picnic Founder, Jean-Paul Gauthier, stated, “It is a great honour to have Neil Young & Crazy Horse join us for what will be an historic event for this region”. Daniel Lanois and Emmylou Harris return to this year’s line up. Both Lanois and Harris have performed in the previous two festivals. Lanois who returns as co-curator of the festival, is currently writing and recording for his next studio album due for release in the Spring of 2014. Lanois will receive the Governor Generals Performing Arts Award on June 1st in Ottawa. Lanois’ production career began with the founding of legendary Grant Avenue Studio and gained industry accolades through his work with ambient innovator Brian Eno and U2.
Lanois stated, “As I look at this year’s line-up for the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic, I can say that my dream has come true. I’m surrounded by artists who I love, many of whom I’ve made records with. This year’s Harvest is truly a homecoming.”
Twelve-time Grammy winner, Emmylou Harris stated, "I'm so happy to be returning to the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic this year- it's a wonderful and welcome celebration of music and community."
Hamilton-based, Whitehorse comprised of Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland, have had great success with their self-titled debut release. Individually, Luke and Melissa have been recognized with awards and nominations from the Juno Awards, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the Hamilton Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards and Polaris.
Los Angeles based, Rocco DeLuca who performed at the 2011 Greenbelt Harvest Picnic, returns in 2013. DeLuca he has performed around the world with his authentic and unique lyric and voice which have garnered him international attention and acclaim. He is currently recording his next studio album with Lanois which is due for release in February 2014.
At her mother’s behest, Trixie Whitely thrust a copy of her first EP, Strong Blood, into Lanois’ hand after a gig and returned to New York, thinking nothing would ever come of it. Lanois was so blown away her asked Whitley to front Black Dub along with Brian Blade and Daryl Johnson. Whitley is currently touring in anticipation of her debut release, Fourth Corner.

The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation has returned as Title Sponsor of the Greenbelt Harvest Picnic for the third consecutive year. "The Greenbelt Harvest Picnic is a great opportunity to bring together the things we enjoy the most – our friends, our families, and entertainment – in celebration of local food,” said Burkhard Mausberg, CEO, Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation. “The Greenbelt is home to 5,500 farms, and some of the most fertile agricultural lands in the province. This event is just one of the many ways the Foundation is raising awareness for all the healthy local foods Ontario farmers provide.”

Children 10 and under are admitted free to the Picnic while discounted tickets are available for youth ages 11-15.
