There’s something motivating about a team of people working together towards a common future. At our annual retreat, staff came together for team-building, agenda-setting, and collaborative learning.
Along with competitive card games, the odd malted beverage, and the outdoors, our retreat brought together a geographically diverse organization with offices in five locations. With exercises, brainstorming sessions, and presentations, our retreats allow us to bond as individuals to map a common path forward for the Greenbelt. Regardless of seniority or program, everyone’s voice is heard, and every idea valued.
Each retreat is held in a different Greenbelt location. With low costs, we find modest accommodations that further our awareness of the region and take advantage of the outdoors. These opportunities benefit our work by fostering unique creativity and innovation.
This year, we discussed the importance of the Foundation’s outputs, specifically addressing the roles of our Regional Offices in Durham, Milton, Niagara, and York, and how these roles will affect the future of the Greenbelt. These conversations continue to inspire my staff year after year. Both likeminded and creative people are gathered to think and do more. In a region of possibility, the growth is endless.
And surprisingly, it’s also a chance to play euchre with staff eager to kick my butt.
